Jing Jing is one of those very friendly types. He refused to go home.
He stayed with us and barked when we didn't throw sticks for him..I guess
he's also one of those demanding types too... But Jing Jing is very sweet
and funny so it's easy to oblige. Although when it was time to say goodbye
and drop young Jing' back home, he wouldn't have any of it and continued
to follow us.
... Cute as he was, Jing Jing was turning into trouble. Not to mention the
fact that he seemed to have a death wish. He kept running in front of cars
that were driving at a clip along the park road. This stress relieving run
was starting to go so horribly wrong for me. I just was not up for seeing
a tragedy.
Anyway there's a club in this park where we're staying. I thought it would
be a good idea to take him there and see if there might be someone to fix
this situation. I didn't know and still don't know what goes on in this
club but there are always chefs hanging outside the back. I was hoping that
the chefs might take a shine to Jing Jing, feed him and we'd ditch him.
This idea unfortunately was just not clever enough because the chefs and
Jing Jing did not participate.
The next thing I thought of was to go inside this club like the good samaritan
that I was and ask for assisstance. After all I was staying here. Renting
for a minute, and so on ... And so with conviction I entered this posh atmosphere
wearing sweaty and old running cloths and trying to appear like I belonged.
I had recently heard that when this community was founded that they didn't
allow musician types in.. But that was a negative and I was putting that
kind of thinking behind me. I thought what might really impress the help
at the front desk was to let Mark speak first. He has a proper English accent
and regular colored hair, and it didn't matter if he was a little sweaty
which he wasn't due to the fact that I run too slow. Mark looks neat and
clean cut, ( his buzz cut has grown in so much). Unfortunately he was outside
with Jing Jing who had just rolled in the mud and looked about as impressive
as me. So of course the same woman manager who escorted me out of the club
yesterday was there again ready to do the same thing... Then I spotted two
older women who also seemed to work at the club. One was a medium sized
, fair haired woman named Jean, and the other was a shorter dark haired
woman named Rita who seemed like she was in charge. I didn't know "of
what" at this point but the point was that she was in charge of something
and she was the one to talk to. So I did. Rita shook my hand firmly and
introduced herself with her first and last name. This was very impressive
to me because Rita had the same last name of an ex- president and of a famous
astrologer. I, in return was going through a bit of a drama about my name.
I didn't know if I should say my first and last name because then she might
know who I was and that I was a musician or worse, ..famous. My secret hide-away
would then be ruined.. but she might not give a..... This thought procees
became very stressfull. So I just introduced my self as Mrs. T. and felt
incredibly stupid.. Even though I'm always impressed when my mother-in-law
uses Mrs. T. it just didn't happen to work for me. For a minute she might
have thought I married the Mr. T from that t.v. show in the 80's. Ah the
80's will they ever end? Anyway Rita may have just thought I was foolish
and knew who I was anyway. It is a small comunity and news does travel quickly.
Just as I had hoped Rita straightened out the Jing Jing situation. She called
a neighbor who knew Jing's owner's work number. I made up a trerrible story
about how I thought Jing might have been hit by a car. I confess I was trying
to scare the women a little. After all she did go to work and leave Jing
Jing outside the house all day in the street where he could have gotten
killed chasing cars. Also one of his favorite pastimes. So I lied. It wasn't
such a far stretch though because Jing was limping. It looked a little like
hip displaser though. I was thinking his owner might check him out at the
vet...but who knows.
After all was said and done and Jing got picked up, Mark and I went back
to the car. Mark and I thought it was a good idea to take a car down to
the lake, and then jog around it. We're staying on what I would call a mountain
and what people here call a hill. Up hill is a terrible experience. Besides
when it comes to running I'm always looking for a cab after two miles and
since you can't always find one on this small mountain..we took the car.
Lucky for us we got back just in time for lunch. Joe, our chef, laid out
a terrific spread. In fact I've never eaten so much before. He cooks clean
so it's not that fattening.
..Music? Yeah we got around to that after lunch. We started to lay down
"Fall into Your Dreams" on hard disk. Things are sounding good..
Life is good and interesting here..but don't let me start on the hot water
pipes.
peace to you
